Thermal Belt Rail Trail

The Thermal Belt Rail Trail extends nearly 8 miles from Oakland Road in Spindale west and north to the community of Gilkey. The surface is crushed gravel. The trail is nearly flat with only a gentle rise if traveling towards Gilkey.

The best places to access the trail are in the Town of Spindale and at the Tanner Companies parking area past the Tanner Store and the Water Oak Restaurant.

The trail currently has very little on-site signage and no published maps. It is currently managed by the Bechtler Development Corporation but negotiations are underway for potential management by Rutherford County.
